We are a specialty shoe store with over 90 years of shoe-fitting experience, and a goal of helping customers of all ages & abilities find the right shoe for them. We carry over 30 different models from the best offerings our vendors have to offer. Here’s how we do it….
When you walk into Queen City Running, you will be greeted by a member of our staff. Instead of going right to the shoe wall to make a selection, you will sit down with our shoe-fitter and begin discussing what your specific needs and requirements are. We will then measure your feet, including your length, width and arch length. If you do have a model that you are currently using, please bring it with you if at all possible. This will help to give us a better history of your wear pattern and gait cycle.
Once we determine your foot size and structure, we will make a recommendation of the type of shoe that should work best for you – neutral, stability or motion control. As a starting point, we will typically suggest an additional ½ size up, and then adjust accordingly to achieve an appropriate fit. Based on this assessment, we will select 3-4 different styles that we feel will work well for you. During the fitting process, we will compare the fit of each model, and if weather permits, encourage you to take a short walk or jog outside to better evaluate each model. By using your input and feedback, we will then come up with the best option for you.
